Growing up watching so much TVB drama, I remember when I was young, watching "Journey to the West", I remember Tang Monk or better known as Tripikana once mention "Birth, Old Age, Sickness and Death" is a common thing among all being. But as human we treasure every birth and death is just too painful to be bear with.
When you are born, you cried, yet everyone around you cherish.
When you are death, you smiled, yet everyone around you shed.
Buddhist believe that life is a bitter sea, we come to suffer. How true is this?
As much as we suffered, we do enjoy our life. Is life all about suffering? Nope. But what is life about?
I want to share a story told by my teacher when I was young.
Long long ago, (why must all story start with this line, huh?) there is a rich king, hoping for immortality, giving away big reward for anyone that can find any medicine to be immortal. So one day, an unknown old lady come to see the king, claiming that she has the medicine to be immortal. The king tempted. But being wise he asked 3 great ministers of his time about the decision. The first minister answer "Being immortal is a good, so that my King can be rule all the land on earth and be the sole King of the world." The king is very happy. The second minister answer "I believe there is never a better decision, being immortal my King can get all the golds in the world, and have all everything you want forever." The king is so sure that its a right decision until the third minister speak. "My King, I firmly believe its a wrong decision, being immortal you need to face all your loved one death one after another until you have lost all your family and friends, seeing them death is the greatest sorrow, so much sorrow that no money can cure." At last the king decided not to opt for immortality.
I read about a study that show that facing the death of your love partner is the biggest sorrow, followed by the death of own children, then parents, lastly siblings. Facing death is indeed a great pain. Death means losing someone forever. And forever is too much for a pain. Recovering is not as easy as spelling it. Death can come anytime to anyone around you, even you, without giving any signal, its scary. Its normal for every human to be afraid of death. But if it is me, I will rather say I am more afraid to face the death of people around me than facing my own death.
Getting emo lately, my auntie passed away few days ago. Seeing my cousin and my uncle in so much sadness and more pain to everyone in the family. Imagining death along is already a pain. I wanted to write more on this post but tears start dribble down.
p/s: Sorry for missing these few days.
p/p/s: Few readers complained that they cannot see my flash tab button and cannot leave message on my chatbox. I moved my chatbox back to the side bar.
