OF Sea Cucumber, Abalone and Golden Basin

Everything sound so delicious right?? Okay, I have been blaming that working cause me not blogging so blame all these delicious food too. Yeah, my uncle restaurant. Its true. But Ipoh is a small place in a big state and its just a baby restaurant here, guess not many know about it. But I am here promoting. Well, thats because I got free food.

Its Food Hapiness Restaurant or in Chinese 口福阁. Does this ring any bell? If you are from Ipoh you might know where is it or you might have dine here before. Well known for Malaysia river fish that can be really cost up to RM988 a kilo. Empurau 忘不了. Ever hear of that? And if you are willing to spend more than 1k for a meal, so are so welcome to dine in here. But I am not going to tell you how tasty the fish is, its about some more economical food on promotion here. Also speacially for Father's Day. If you are at Ipoh, planning to celebrate Father's Day, here will be a good choice. Just mention that you are from The Supiaholic, I will give you free dessert.

So, back to the title related pics.
Sea cucumber stuffed with meat and broccoli.
Closer look...
Don't ask me why I put 3 pictures of the same food... Some girls can post up to 10 pictures with the same cloths.  But if you think that this is not luxury enough. I will proceed to the next one.

Another sea cucumber stuffed with meat. I just can't name the vege around it. But this one look tastier right?? Why huh?? Size matter right?
If you ask me I prefer the first one better, small size is easier to eat but this huge one look nicer on plate. The taste differ too coz its cooked by 2 different chef but still yummylicious.

So, I move on.
Geese feet with abalone
I really like the presentation for this one. Look more grand with the cucumber slices around it. Too bad that I am not so into geese feet, I didn't try any but I do have 1 big abalone myself and its superb. Whole abalone taste way better than normal sliced abalone.

Closer look, the abalone look even more tasty right? Bigger right?
Another abalone with fish maw.
This one remind me of Iron Chef Japan. I dunno why but it does.
Lets zoom in.
Do you notice the different between the 2 dishes above?
The second one is actually dried abalone while the first one canned fresh abalone.
The canned abalone is bigger compare to the dried abalone but the dried abalone is more expensive than the canned one.
Most canned abalones are from Australia and dried abalones are from Africa if I am not mistaken.
And most of all, dried abalone taste better compared to canned abalone too.
But dried abalone only available for booking as the preparation time for it is longer. You need to soak the abalone at least over night first before you can start cooking it.
*how do you actually pronounce abalone? Do you pronounce as a-ba-lon or a-ba-lo-ne?*

And last but not least the main dish of the day.

The Golden Basin.

Closer look.
This has been a trend lately in the Chinese Restaurant industry. Newly introduce dish specially for Father's Day celebration. You can see so many ingredients in the basin here included chicken, prawn, pork, sliced abalone, fried meat roll in rice paper, pork feet and many types of vegetable hiding at the bottom.
Basically 1 basin is enough for about 10 very lean eating person. But if you have big appetite you can order everything on the list.
The Golden Basin is such a great invent that you can eat so many different food all in a basin. This is a bit different compared to the traditional golden basin where they cook the food twice, first each ingredient is cooked separately then everyone will be put into the basin and be cook again. But the new method is to cook only once and arrange it in the basin. This way you can still eat the original taste of each food and see how well its complement each other in the big basin. And also how the vegetables at the bottom absorb the sauce from the prawn, chicken and meat. If you never try it, you should really come and have a try here coming Father's Day.

Yeah, if you forget the restaurant name is Food Happiness at Jalan Pasir Pinji, New Pasir Pinji, Ipoh.
